TRAP RANGE SAFETY RULES

 

1.    Treat every gun as though it was loaded.

 

2.     Keep the action open and unloaded when carrying your gun on Club grounds.

 

3.     Make sure the barrel is clear before loading.

 

4.     The Score Keeper is the Safety Officer for the squad they are scoring. In absence of a Score Keeper. the No. 1 Shooter is the Safety Officer.

 

5.     Only 5 shooters on the firing line at a time. Guns must be open and empty when moving to a new station or leaving the shooting field.

 

6.     If you have a shell or wad stuck in your barrel and you need a rod to remove it, do not leave your post. Have the Score Keeper or the No. 1 Shooter bring it to you.

 

 

7.       While on the firing line, keep your gun pointed forward and down unless actually shooting.

 

8.    Never discard a misfired shell on the ground. Put it in the container at the back of the

27 yard line.

 

9.         When leaving post 5. Point gun down and away from shooters. When changing stations always walk behind the shooters never in front.

 

10. Only one shell at a time will be loaded in your gun for trap except for events requiring more shells.

 

11.   No shot larger than 7 1/2 will be allowed to be fired. No shells faster than 1300 fps will be allowed. No picking up shells from ground until the squad is finished shooting.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

12. Only authorized personnel will be allowed to fill or work on the traps. Cease fire will be required when filling traps 2 and 3.

 

13. Ear and eye protection will be required for all shooters.

 

14. No alcohol or drugs will be allowed or no one under influence will be allowed to shoot.

 

15.     All animals will be on leash and controlled while shooting activities are in progress.

 

16. Good sportsmanship and common sense prevent accidents.
